The Indonesian government has made energy transition part of its national agenda. However, the policy direction and implementation plan still place coal and its derivative products as part of the energy transition effort - clearly a misguided step in the wrong direction.
The Just Energy Transition Program works to encourage the Indonesian government to issue policies to immediately retire coal-fired power plants, abandon coal-derived products, and completely switch to renewable energy - which Indonesia has abundant sources of. We work with various stakeholders to ensure that the use of Indonesia’s JETP funds is fully utilized towards achieving a meaningful energy transition that is in line with the 1.5 degree climate targets.
