Anticipation of Economic Impact from PLTU's Early Retirement

Yayasan Indonesia CERAH, together with the Center for Economic and Law Studies (CELIOS), has launched its latest report that accelerating the  early retirement of coal-fired power plants (PLTU) while simultaneously replacing them with renewable-energy based power plant would bring enormous economic benefits.

Modeling studies with this scenario at PLTU Cirebon-1, PLTU Pelabuhan Ratu, and PLTU Suralaya resulted in a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of up to Rp 82.6 trillion. The report titled "Anticipating the Economic Impact of Early Retirement of Coal-fired Power Plants" is a follow-up study previously launched in July 2023 as part of research related to a just energy transition in Indonesia.
