Central Sulawesi KOL Survey on Energy & Climate Transition

This CERAH report with the Research Centre for Politics and Government (PolGov), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM), discusses the urgency of four main issues, namely energy transition, renewable energy, climate crisis, and critical minerals, in the 2024 Central Sulawesi elections. Although rarely discussed, these four issues are crucial and important for the future realisation of energy transition.

Based on a survey in the Central Sulawesi region, specifically in Palu, Sigi, Morowali, and North Morowali, it reveals that climate crisis is in the spotlight the most, but the public is more interested in candidates who bring up the issue of critical minerals. The report also outlines what the challenges and opportunities are for pushing these four crucial issues to be discussed in the 2024 regional elections. It also contains strategic recommendations to prioritise energy transition and natural resource management.
