Just Energy Transition: Challenges & Opportunities to Locals

The Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) commitment has entered the stage of preparing a comprehensive investment and policy plan (CIPP), which will be launched on August 16, 2023. The preparation of the CIPP is expected to involve various stakeholders, including local governments. 

But in fact, local governments do not know and are not involved in the JETP energy transition policy. This was revealed from joint research conducted by the Yayasan Indonesia CERAH and the Center for Economic and Law Studies (CELIOS) on six local governments, namely Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, Cilacap Regency, Probolinggo, and Langkat. This finding is a gap that needs to be addressed considering that the implementation of the JETP scheme will be directly related to the regions.
