The energy subsidy system is one of the state's most vital instruments for protecting public purchasing power. However, to maximize this protective function, periodic evaluations are necessary to ensure that every rupiah from the State Budget (APBN) delivers tangible benefits for public welfare and national economic progress.
We work alongside various stakeholders to drive energy subsidy reform focused on two main pillars:
Ensuring energy subsidies shift from being commodity-based (goods) to direct subsidies targeted at citizens in the lowest economic brackets, thereby making social protection more effective.
Driving the phased removal of regressive energy subsidies and redirecting those funds to accelerate the energy transition, build renewable energy power plants, and strengthen power grids in remote areas.
Through inclusive advocacy and policy discussions, we strive to build public awareness that subsidy reform does not mean the withdrawal of state support, but rather the redistribution of justice. With a more efficient and transparent energy system, Indonesia can secure stronger fiscal space to provide cheap, clean energy for all levels of society without burdening future generations.
